From the Desk of the Pastor: December 31, 2021
December 31, 2021
Good morning everyone.
My letter this week is a video message recorded in the church earlier this week which you can access here: https://www.standrewoakville.com/news/new-year-message-2022/
For New Year and Sunday Mass, you can access it on the website and through this link: https://www.standrewoakville.com/sunday-masses-online/
Looking forward through the next few week’s, it seem that the Covid and Omicron numbers may cause some changes both provincially and locally. We will keep you posted by email if anything has an impact on St. Andrew’s. The Catholic Women’s League have deferred the Mass to inaugurate their 100 Year Anniversary from Tuesday, January 4th to Tuesday February 1st at 7.00 pm.
Finally, a very sincere thanks to Yvette Vukanovich and her team of telephone volunteers who made hundreds of telephone calls to those who had signed up for Mass. Up until the morning of December 24th Yvette was still trying to accommodate callers. However, the news late morning that the Covid numbers had reached a record high meant that emails and telephone calls from parishioners began to arrive after they made the decision that being in a space with a large number of people might not be such a good idea. The ushers, regular and those pressed into service for the event, did a wonderful job checking people in and making sure that people were seated. To everyone, a sincere thank you. Thanks also to those who made the church look so beautiful for Christmas and to our musicians and singers for providing music in less than ideal conditions and with changes at the last minute. The saying goes that “it takes a village” and here at St. Andrew’s the “villagers” get the work done with passion and kindness. To everyone, a sincere thank you. Felix has become the unofficial doorkeeper of the church over the last week and keeps me posted on the number of people who drop by to make a visit or drop into the church which I love to hear. Please drop by anytime from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. and use the parking lot to walk to the lake and around the historic downtown.
May the Lord bless you, keep you safe and walk with you every day of this New Year.
